Your privacy on Harbor

Last updated July 7, 2026

Harbor Colorado (“Harbor,” “we,” “us”) is a free directory that connects Coloradans who have space to offer with neighbors displaced by wildfire. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Harbor is a directory, not a vetting service — see our Terms of Service.

Information we collect

From hosts: your mobile phone number, the town/neighborhood and county of your space, an optional street address (kept private, never shown publicly), and the listing details you enter (space type, capacity, availability, description).

From people seeking housing: your mobile phone number and the details you submit in a contact request (household size, timeframe, which fire displaced you, accessibility needs, pets).

Automatically: basic technical data (such as IP address and device/browser information) needed to operate and secure the site.

How we use your information

To operate the directory: publish listings (showing only town/neighborhood, never an exact address), verify phone numbers, connect a host and a guest after both verify their numbers, keep listings current, and prevent abuse. We do not sell your personal information.

Text messages (SMS)

If you post a listing and opt in, we send you automated transactional text messages about your own listing: a private link to manage or remove it, and occasional reminders to confirm it is still available. We also send one-time passcodes to verify phone numbers. Message frequency varies (typically a few messages per listing). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Opting out of texts will not remove a listing you have already posted; you can manage or remove it from your private link.

We do not send marketing texts. Mobile opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

How information is shared

Between users:a host’s phone number is shared with a person seeking housing only after that person verifies their own phone number, and vice versa. Exact addresses are never shown publicly.

Service providers: we use trusted vendors to run Harbor — including Supabase (database), Twilio (phone verification and text messages), and Vercel (hosting). They process data only to provide these services.

Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of people using Harbor.

Your choices

You can update or remove your listing at any time from your private manage link, reply STOP to stop texts, and contact us to request access to or deletion of your information. Removing a listing deletes it and any associated contact requests.

Security & retention

We protect contact information behind phone verification and never publish exact addresses. We keep information only as long as needed to operate the directory or as required by law. No online service can be perfectly secure — use your own judgment when sharing details or meeting anyone.
